Katy White September 10, 2026
Scottsdale may be known around the world for luxury resorts, championship golf, incredible restaurants and beautiful desert homes, but its Western roots are still very much alive.
This weekend, The West's Most Western Rodeo returns to WestWorld of Scottsdale from September 11-13, 2026, bringing professional rodeo action to the heart of North Scottsdale. The PRCA-sanctioned event takes place inside the Equidome at WestWorld, one of Scottsdale's best-known event venues.
For anyone considering a move to Scottsdale, events like this are a great reminder that living here is about much more than the home itself. North Scottsdale communities offer a unique combination of luxury living, outdoor recreation, equestrian culture, golf, dining and major events - all surrounded by the Sonoran Desert.
The 2026 rodeo takes place:
Friday, September 11 - 7:00 PM
Saturday, September 12 - 7:00 PM
Sunday, September 13 - 2:00 PM
Gates open two hours before each performance, and organizers recommend arriving at least an hour early to allow time for parking and seating.
The rodeo features professional competitors in saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping and bull riding.
WestWorld of Scottsdale is located at 16601 N. Pima Road in Scottsdale, and the rodeo is held inside the Equidome Arena.
WestWorld sits in North Scottsdale near the Loop 101 and hosts many of the area's best-known equestrian, automotive and special events throughout the year.
It is one of the amenities that makes living in North Scottsdale feel different from many other parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Residents can enjoy beautiful desert surroundings and established residential communities while still having access to nationally recognized events just minutes away
Long before Scottsdale became known for luxury resorts and destination golf, horses, ranching and Western culture were an important part of the area's identity.
That history remains visible today. WestWorld helps Scottsdale maintain a strong connection to the equestrian community, and the city continues to host major horse shows, rodeos and equestrian events throughout the year.
For buyers interested in horses, North Scottsdale and the surrounding areas can also offer opportunities that are increasingly difficult to find in major metropolitan areas - including larger lots, horse properties and neighborhoods with a distinctly rural desert atmosphere while still being relatively close to shopping, restaurants and everyday conveniences.
One of the things I enjoy about North Scottsdale is how different the lifestyle can feel depending on where you live.
The area surrounding WestWorld puts residents close to an impressive combination of activities. Within the broader North Scottsdale area you'll find golf, hiking and biking trails, restaurants, shopping, resorts, equestrian facilities and some of Scottsdale's most desirable residential communities.
Communities such as DC Ranch and McDowell Mountain Ranch are part of the greater North Scottsdale lifestyle surrounding this area, while traveling farther north brings you into communities including Troon, Terravita, Bellasera and Desert Mountain.
Each has its own personality, price range, amenities and style of living. That is one reason I always encourage buyers relocating to Scottsdale to look beyond simply choosing a house. Choosing the right part of North Scottsdale can be just as important.
When people begin researching a move to Scottsdale, they naturally look at home prices, property taxes, commute times and neighborhood amenities. But lifestyle matters too.
What will you actually be able to do on a Friday night or a beautiful Arizona weekend?
In Scottsdale, the answer might be attending a rodeo at WestWorld, playing a morning round of golf, hiking in the Sonoran Desert, having dinner at a favorite North Scottsdale restaurant or simply enjoying your backyard while watching one of our famous Arizona sunsets.
Events like The West's Most Western Rodeo are part of what gives Scottsdale its personality. It is a city where Western heritage and luxury living can exist side by side - and that's something you don't find everywhere.
If you're considering buying or selling a home in North Scottsdale, understanding the different communities and lifestyles available can make a tremendous difference in finding the right fit.
